Our Honours Evenings were, both of them, the auspicious occasions we have come to expect from this college. Students, immaculate in their full step out uniform, together with parents, and staff in academic gowns, celebrated the achievements of those students who excelled in 2012, together with the Grade 12 Top Achievers.
Our Music Maestro, Nick Wium, and the Crawford Ensemble started the proceedings on a high note with their upbeat arrangement of Gaudeamus Igitur. Prep School Principal, Owen Kuyper, warmly presented the awards at the Junior Evening. The Senior Honours Evening was graced by Pre-Primary Principal, Sue Pilkington-Williams who always congratulates our students with pride. Final awards and trophies for the Top Achievers in Matric last year were presented by Jenny Coetzee herself.
The evenings, both Junior and Senior, were opportunities for us to showcase the achievements to which we would like all our students to aspire. Satisfaction, pride and pleasure were reflected on the faces of student recipients, staff and parents alike as hard work was recognized and celebrated.
Subject Merit Certificates, Medals, Half and Full Colours were awarded to achievers in the different grades and these were interspersed with musical interludes. Those who attended both evenings certainly heard a wide range of work produced by our Music Department. The awardees also enriched the evening, on both occasions, as we listened in awe to all that they had achieved. Congratulations to all involved in these scintillating occasions!
